From Diane and Bob:
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Caspar Cottage. We love that guests appreciate our little slice of heaven. It is all about hospitality and attending to all of the little details that make each guest's experience a memorable one. We enjoy hosting some many wonderful people. We hope you come back and stay with us again.

"Wow! This place was way beyond what the pictures show. I was very happy here and do not want to leave. I can't see how your children ever did. If i were your kid you would never get rid of me (please adopt me) EVERY INCH OF THIS COTTAGE IS FABULOUS! Great detail work Bob. And you Diane are so thoughtful in regards to what a traveler may need. I love your anticipation of what guests need. Your gardening is beautiful. The bed was like heaven, and I thought the tub was until the bed. Can Bob come build this for me? Thank you!"

"Caspar Cottage was a lucky find. It is a smartly designed, beautifully built hideaway in the woods but just a few minutes from the charming town of Mendocino. Woodwork and tile is handsome. Sofas, couches and bed are good quality and quite comfortable. This cottage is immaculate. Bonus for us city dwellers: ultra-quiet nights and bright stars in the dark night sky. Diane is the perfect hostess. She is pleasant, knowledgeable, and there when you need her to be. She gave us many great tips on touring the surrounds. We have been vacation renters for over 20 years and Caspar Cottage was our favorite yet."

"We rented Caspar Cottage for 5 nights to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. The cottage was even more charming than the pictures, if that's possible! Beautiful, peaceful setting, very well constructed, high quality, an abundance of amenities. The attention to detail was everywhere. The bed was extremely comfortable, everything was spotless. We could not have picked a better place! And the price-I feel like we stole the place! Nowhere else would you find such a unique and special getaway like this for the money. Very conveniently located to a plethora of activities and scenic wonders. Simply drive 3 miles on 409 rd, then either turn right or left onto HWY 1-within minutes there are endless beaches and bluffs, restaurants, shops, adventures, etc. On our way into Mendocino that first day, we stopped at several great wineries on our very scenic route through the Anderson Valley. During our stay we very much enjoyed :hiking from the cottage to the beautiful waterfall in the redwoods, having picnics on Pine Beach and Jughandle Beach, eating lunch and shopping at Noyo Harbor, experiencing seal watching at MacKerricher Park, hiking to the light house, 'beach hopping' along HWY 1, exquisite dining at Ledford House which included seeing grey whales spouting in the ocean! Overall, the area was so serene and quiet. Endless beauty. Not to mention the short drive to the redwoods in Montgomery Forest.Everyone should be able to experience the majestic redwoods in their lifetime. Indescribable. We will never forget this trip to Mendocino, the fabulous time we had, nor the place where we stayed- Caspar Cottage. Bob and Diane are such genuine and friendly people-very helpful and kind hosts. We already have friends who are wanting to look into staying at Caspar Cottage, and we would love to return again. If you're looking to rekindle your spirit, this is the place!"

"Once again, we ventured to Mendocino and Caspar Cottage. What a relaxing and wonderful weekend. What an awesome place to find serenity and reconnect with your loved ones and nature. This place truly is a treasured spot and beautifully crafted by the owners. Looking forward to another wonderful trip, maybe in the summer months with the kids. The owners provide a great deal of hospitality and comfort. Highly recommend staying here!"

"After traveling from the Midwest for vacations in Mendocino for many years, we found Caspar Cottage about 7 years ago and have been staying there ever since. We love its quiet setting in the woods in an area where there is a spot to go for a walk or run every morning without getting in the car, which is not the case in many places in the area. A State park with waterfall is a short walk from the cottage as well. Since there is so much to experience in the area, we love being in the middle of all the things that make the area so wonderful to visit - long walks on 10 Mile Beach (20 minutes north by car); walks in the magnificent Mendocino Botanical Garden (10 min. north by car); walks on the headlands near a light house, 5 minutes away, canoeing on Little River (20 min south), hikes in state parks in both directions and the towns of Mendocino, 10 minutes south and Ft. Bragg, 10 minutes north, each of which have fabulous restaurants, art galleries, shops and grocery stores. The cottage is spotless and well equipped. It provides an immediate sense of peace and relaxation because of its beauty of craftsmanship and wood (built by the owner) and the gorgeous landscaping and flowers with accompanying ceramics created by the other owner. These host artists have created beautiful places to sit and meditate or read. They also go above and beyond to provide information and hospitality but do not invade your private space. We always hate to leave and can not wait to return the following year."

"My husband and I spent a wonderful week at the Caspar Cottage. We cannot say enough about the beauty and tranquility of the property. The cottage is extremely clean and well-equipped with everything you could possibly require for your stay. Bob and Diane are very talented artisans and the cottage is crafted to the highest standard and decorated in a most artistic manner. They are the most kind, warm and helpful hosts and will offer you whatever information you may need to explore the area. Within walking distance of the cottage is a fabulous hike through a massive redwood forest which ends up at a waterfall. Fort Bragg and Mendocino are very close by offering galleries, great restaurants, shops and proximity to the ocean. The Mendocino Botanical Gardens are worth the trip. 47 acres of wondrous natural beauty and the path winds down to the ocean at one point. The cottage is very quiet, peaceful and the gardens and flowers are just breathtaking. We recommend this home with the highest regard. You will not be disappointed!"

"I hardly know where to begin! Your kind hospitality began as we reserved your cottage. We felt so welcome from the get-go. And then to arrive and find an idyllic, private cottage in a pristine setting…heavenly! Your cottage is comfortable, immaculate and so tastefully decorated. The woodworking is gorgeous, the photography inspiring, and your plants and flowers warm, soothing and enviable. Your extra special touches were so very thoughtful - the divine bread (with butter no less!) delicious coffee (with milk no less!) and fruit galore. You thought of every amenity, even robes for the bath and special lights outside to make the evenings more magical. You are clearly kind, warm, generous folks who love to make even strangers very happy. Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. Well be back!"

"Many, many thanks for providing such a gorgeous home away from home. Not only is the cottage as fine as it appears on the web, but far nicer! Every little detail is taken care of. It is obvious that both of you are skilled artists and please know that we continually appreciated your creations all week. Such a caring, welcoming and interesting couple you are. From the moment we arrived we felt like we were at home. Not only is no necessity left undone, but necessities we didn't even know we needed were anticipated and filled. Spotless, well decorated, tranquil and lovely! Thanks for sharing your special cottage with us."

"This charming, immaculate cottage, spoiled us for any other places! Caspar Cottage was amazing and perfect in every way. When we arrived we were greeted with fresh fruit, flowers, bread, and really good coffee. There were even freshly picked strawberries from the owner's garden, which were delicious! We drove a rental car up from San Francisco and as we got closer to Mendocino, the drive became captivating, through the redwoods. Roll down your windows and smell the fresh earthiness of the air, it is revitalizing. The waterfall trail that is within walking distance of the cottage is absolutely enchanting. The first time we hiked it, we met no one on the trail, and the breeze had blown wild, pink, Rhododendron blossoms onto our walking path. I felt like we were inside a greeting card or travel magazine. We loved the fanciful, little town of Mendocino. Simply walking from the town to the seashore there was a mystical experience for us. Clear views of the beautiful seaside, and rarely meeting another soul made our vacation spiritual and magical. Caspar cottage itself, lent a helping hand. It is extremely clean and seems new. I found everything I needed to cook and grill. There is a lovely little picnic area in the manicured side yard. The landscaping is beautiful and meticulous, the little artistic touches everywhere are splendid. Everywhere I looked inside and outside of the cottage, I was met with little surprises, from Orchids growing in the bathroom, to hand made ceramic hearts in an artful display amongst the plants on the front porch. The cottage is expertly decorated, from the pictures to the quilts and pillows. The bed linens are so clean that I felt like they were brand new, they were super soft and heavenly. The bathroom has a full, jetted tub and a shower, and is all new and clean, a spa experience can be had in there, if you find the time. We were fortunate to have Jughandle Beach and walking trails completely to ourselves, it felt like our own private getaway! Exploring the Krummholz forest along the ecological stair case walk, made our 6 year old son feel like he was in a fairytale. He also took photos of the gardens in the Owner's yard next door, he loved this place. The Sea Glass Beach is not far away and was fun. True peace and relaxation can be had here."

"It makes us so happy to know that you had a wonderful stay in our Caspar Cottage and that you appreciate all the little touches. I actually enjoy getting the cottage ready for our guests because I know when they arrive they will be pleasantly surprised. We are glad that you experienced and magic of the Mendocino coast that we don't take for granted, but are thankful for everyday. Please come back and stay with us again sometime!"

"Exactly as advertised....maybe better! First of all, Diane was an awesome hostess. As others have shared, she does a great job making you feel at home with a nicely appointed cottage and fresh flowers. The supplied coffee, bread, jam and fruit make for a nice, light breakfast before heading out to explore the beaches, rivers, hiking trails or wineries. Her husband Bob did a magnificent job building the cottage which is warm, cozy, contemporary and full of light due to some oversized windows in every room. Tiny house living at its finest! The cottage sits on 5 acres of property shared with the homeowners. . but, Diane and Bob definitely give you your space. Besides a nice welcome when we arrived and tour of their garden right before we left, we really didn't see them. Yet, we had the security of knowing they were right there if we needed them for help with the appliances, fireplace, internet, etc. If you haven't been to Mendocino before, you will love this little coastal town. The cottage is only about .25 mile from access to a "locals only" trailhead that syncs up with the Russian Gulch State Park waterfall trail. At about 2 1/2 miles round-trip, it is definitely worth the walk/hike. The cottage also sits a couple of miles north of Mendocino and south of Fort Bragg. Caspar Cottage was the perfect getaway for a romantic weekend with nice blend of adventure and relaxation. If we were to come back to this area, we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else. Thank you Diane and Bob for creating such a beautiful space and sharing it with others!"

"We loved Caspar Cottage! It was the perfect getaway from our hectic, urban lives. Diane and Bob obviously love their cottage and want the guests to love it too. And they succeed. All the personal, detailed touches, such as cottage design and thoughtful decorations, fresh cut flowers, fresh fruit, good bread, coffee, etc., make the cottage inviting, as soon as you walk in the door. It is everything that the ads and reviews say it is. And Dianne and Bob were a delight to talk with. Though we were busy exploring what Caspar, Mendocino and Ft. Bragg had to offer; kayaking in ocean caves, walking to the water fall through the forest, perusing art galleries, the glass museum, the tattoo museum, and eating great food at the local restaurants, we appreciated having the lovely, private, and rejuvenating cabin to return to. We highly recommend it."

"Caspar Cottage was my favorite vacation rental throughout our three week trip in Northwest California and Utah. The craftsmanship, features of the home, attention to details, natural light and huge bathroom tub were incredible. We also loved the succulents in pots that Diane has created with her own hands. The gardens were in full bloom and added rich color. There is a wonderful hike just down the road from their property. Mendocino is only a few miles and has a great vibe. Diane and Bob are a huge help and support. I will never forget my time at Caspar Cottage and would like to return one day."

"We stayed at this beautiful cottage for three nights and thoroughly loved it. The cottage is well designed, well equipped and ideally located. We took long walks on the glorious trails nearby through the Redwoods, which are accessible from the property. It is a very tranquil spot and it feels a world away from everything. Just perfect! The owners, Diane and Bob, are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They had fresh fruit, fresh bread, lovely jam, milk and coffee waiting for us. Diane met us upon our arrival and we met Bob the day before we left. If you want a peaceful stay near the Redwoods, this is ideal. It would have been great to stay longer, but we're glad we had three nights. Thank you, Diane and Bob."

"We stayed 3 nights in July as part of a California road trip to celebrate our 25th anniversary. After calling Diane, I was convinced that we needed to make her cottage part of our itinerary and reworked our stay in wine country. We were not disappointed. The cottage is adorable - beautifully designed and furnished. It was very clean with a well equipped kitchen (including fresh bread, jam and coffee) and a bathroom that I wished I had in my own home. Even though Diane and Bob reside next door, we felt we had complete privacy in a wooded setting. We took their suggestions on the waterfall hike and visiting town and nearby parks. We thought it was much nicer to stay up on the ridge (where we had sunshine in the morning and stars at night) unlike the foggy coast. Just wished we didn't live on the other coast - would love to make it a regular getaway spot!"

"Thank you so much for opening up your beautiful cottage to us. We could not have found a better place to honeymoon. Bob -we love your handiwork! Diane -we love your thoughtfulness! This week has been truly amazing; we have travelled around Mendocino to see the sites, but what has made this week truly great is the beautiful cottage we get to call home for a bit. We hope to be back soon -maybe for a fall or spring trip. Thank you again!"

"The beauty and serenity that encompass the cottage is truly remarkable. You have done a wonderful job in creating a serene and joyful retreat."

"Caspar Cottage and your amazing hospitality are a masterpiece of your extraordinary talents. It has been such a special treat to be here and we both look forward to returning next September. Thank you!"

"The cottage and their immediate surroundings are a destination in themselves."

"We had a WONDERFUL stay at your sweet Caspar Cottage. This charming place is the jewel of the Mendocino area, and we feel so lucky to have found you. Absolute perfection inside and out. The peace and tranquility are hard to beat. A perfect getaway for rest and relaxation. Thank you for taking care of the finer details."

"Our stay at Caspar Cottage has been absolutely perfect! The sweet little oasis in the silent woods so near the vast ocean has been a place to rest, rejuvenation, restoration and rejoicing We truly loved every moment here. Heavenly!"

"Our time at Caspar Cottage was magical. If we could we would buy this place and live here forever."
