This is a perfect cottage for serenity & beauty. Cozy, clean, great stove, great tub. Quietly tucked in the forest, with kind hosts and hummingbird visitors. It really is a gem! Didn’t really want to leave!

This private cottage is truly exceptional. You wake up surrounded by the forest, with so much space, quiet, and freedom around you. The cabin feels warm, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. And the bathtub alone is worth the trip — taking a bath while looking out into the forest is unforgettable. We were also deeply impressed by Diane’s hospitality. She welcomed us with freshly baked bread, jam, butter, fruit, and milk. We highly, highly recommend this place. We will absolutely stay here again.

We loved our stay at Caspar Cottage. The cottage is located in a peaceful park like setting. It is walking distance to beautiful hikes including the waterfall in the redwoods. Diane has provided everything one would need and the cottage is beautiful and comfortable inside. The location is right between Ft Bragg and Mendocino which made visiting and dining in both easy. We will definitely be back!

Massive treasure of a secluded cottage. Does not get better than this. The cottage is extremely comfortable and surrounded by beauty and quiet. It’s magical. The host is extremely welcoming and warm yet respectful of privacy. Her local recommendations rock too. Kitchen fully equipped. Comfortable mattress. 10 minutes drive to Mendocino. Trail nearby. Deeply grateful for opening her place to women like me.

From the moment we drove onto the property, we felt we were someplace special. Very quiet and private. Set very close to Russian Gulch State Park. We thoroughly enjoyed the hike from the cottage to the waterfall. The cottage is very nicely laid out, well-stocked kitchen, and giant windows in the living room allowing plenty of light in and nice views outside. We ate several dinners outside at the picnic table in the evening. The queen size bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was spacious with a separate shower and jetted tub. The hosts are friendly, and knowledgeable with many recommendations for places to go, things to do and recommended restaurants. We enjoyed visiting Diane’s ceramic artist studio on-site as well as her husband’s woodworking studio. The entire layout of their property is private and feels magical. We had such a good time that we extended our stay an extra day. We will definitely be back!

Wow! This place was way beyond what the pictures show. I was very happy here and do not want to leave. I can’t see how your children ever did. If I were your kid you would never get rid of me (please adopt me) EVERY INCH OF THIS COTTAGE IS FABULOUS! Great detail work Bob. And you Diane are so thoughtful in regard to what a traveler may need. I love your anticipation of what guests need. Your gardening is beautiful. The bed was like heaven, and I thought the tub was until the bed. Can Bob come build this for me? Thank you!

Expect a peaceful, comfortable and rejuvenating retreat at the Caspar Cottage. Diane and Bob have created a piece of paradise on their beautiful property in the Mendocino Forest. Diane was so kind to tour us around her art studio and provide us local recommendations to hikes, dining, and travel. We will be dreaming about our experience until we return again!

After traveling from the Midwest for vacations in Mendocino for many years, we found Caspar Cottage about 10 years ago and have been staying there ever since. We love its quiet setting in the woods in an area where there is a spot to go for a walk or run every morning. A State Park with a waterfall in the redwoods is a short walk from the cottage as well. Since there is so much to experience in the area, we love being in the middle of all the things that make the area so wonderful to visit – long walks on 10 Mile Beach, walks in the magnificent Mendocino Botanical Garden, walks on the headlands near the Point Cabrillo Lighthouse, canoeing on Van Damme Bay in Little River and Big River in Mendocino. Fabulous restaurants, art galleries, shops and grocery stores. The cottage is spotless and well equipped. It provides an immediate sense of peace and relaxation because of its beauty of craftsmanship (built by the owner) and the gorgeous landscaping and flowers with accompanying ceramics created by the other owner. These host artists have created beautiful places to sit and meditate or read. They also go above and beyond to provide information and hospitality but do not invade your private space. We always hate to leave and cannot wait to return the following year.

What a wonderful getaway spot. The cottage was charming , cozy and well appointed with many thoughtful touches. Diane was very gracious and warm and gave us several activity and dining suggestions . We enjoyed visiting her studio, to see her creative artwork. A little oasis in the redwoods… thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven with us!

Caspar Cottage is an amazing sanctuary surrounded by gorgeous forest. We felt right at home and loved the peacefulness. Diane is a lovely host, and has tons of great recommendations for the area. She even dropped off some fresh cut flowers for my birthday!

We rented Caspar Cottage for 5 nights to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary. The cottage was even more charming than the pictures, if that’s possible! Beautiful, peaceful setting, very well constructed, high quality, an abundance of amenities. The attention to detail was everywhere.The bed was extremely comfortable, everything was spotless. We could not have picked a better place!
